enabling positive change for youth

Sadhana Service Project plans to bring an innovative 8-week program, Agitated to Elevated, to two different youth groups in Columbia County. Agitated to Elevated is a ground-breaking, trauma-sensitive course that transforms trauma-impacted and justice-involved youth using a holistic approach towards gaining self awareness. Each class synthesizes yoga, meditation, writing and discussion. Participants are supported through a guided journey as they connect with themselves and each other as thinkers, writers, artists and empathic human beings. With the support of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation these programs will run at the Brookwood Secure Center and the Youth Clubhouse of the Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties.

The aim of the programs brings youth together and meets many of the objectives by:

  • Creating long-lasting positive impact and transformation on the youth involved

  • Bringing the positive nature within the youth to the forefront of conversations and activities

  • Increasing awareness of body and mind and heart

  • Providing a safe container where youth learn to trust themselves and one another

  • Fostering learning on all levels; intellectual, emotional, physical

  • Honoring differences: participate whether from different experiences, backgrounds, towns, gangs and increase trust of others

  • Coming together to pursue a common goal and share insights
