What We Do

Our Mission

At MovingPotential, our mission is to support those impacted by the criminal legal system and addiction through trauma-informed yoga, meditation, and collaborative creative work.

By cultivating awareness, accountability, and collective storytelling rooted in lived experience, we foster embodied resilience as a foundation for personal and social transformation.

Through trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness meditation, we create spaces of profound healing for those wrestling with trauma, addiction, and the shadows of incarceration. In the confined spaces of Columbia and Ulster County Jails, we bring freedom of movement. In the Samaritan Daytop Village recovery center, we nurture hope through yoga and rest. At ReEntry/Columbia we help people catch their breath as they integrate back into their communities. In 2020, we launched the nation’s first yoga teacher training in a mandated recovery center — women discovering self-worth while becoming certified teachers.

Our Approach

Yoga teachers deserve to be paid. Organizations need these services. We bridge the gap. Your support pays trauma-informed teachers who bring healing to people who need it most. MovingPotential is now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a donation of $200 and above is tax-deductible and directly supports our mission of healing, empowerment, and community restoration.

We believe everyone deserves access to the healing benefits of yoga.
